This video is so cute and inspiring. Richard Overton is America's oldest living veteran (he's now 110 years old) and his secret to long life may surprise you, but I am totally here for it! As of 2017, his family has started a GoFundMe page to help raise money for his 24/7 home care so he doesn't have to leave his home. Click the link to read more of his story and donate.

With all the drama surrounding Uber and other companies that support Donald Trump, it's good to find Black-owned companies with views and morals that align more closely with mine. Founded by tech guru Godwin Gabriel, the Moovn app has the potential to give other ride sharing apps some competition. It's currently only operating in about seven US cities, including NYC and Chicago. I recently downloaded the app and my only issue so far is the wait time (about 20 to 30 minutes). I'm guessing that's because it's relatively new and they probably don't have as many drivers as Uber or Lyft. I do like the fact that you can also pre-book a ride. I'm sure the buzz around this app will grow within the next few months. So download the app and let me know what you think.
So if you know me then you already know that I love margaritas! And now that I'm no longer pregnant I'm even more excited for this. For those who don't know, the Margarita March is an annual event where you pretty much hop from bar to bar drinking margaritas (duh!). It started in 2013 and that takes place in different cities across the country (NYC, D.C., Miami, Philly). The NYC Margarita March takes place August 19th. You need to purchase a ticket which costs $65 and includes 8 margaritas at 8 different NYC bars. A portion of the proceeds are donated to charity. You can purchase tickets here and check out the Margarita March Facebook page for more info.

So spread the word and visit www.fvckhim.com to purchase the book and join the challenge. Now I don't know about you but I will ALWAYS be a kid at heart! And one thing I loved when I was kid was watching Disney Channel movies. To be honest I still watch them, but there's nothing better than the throwbacks. My favorites were: Double Teamed, Smart House, Gotta Kick it Up, Zenon, Halloweentown, Model Behavior, Pixel Perfect, The Thirteenth Year, and I'm gonna stop now before I name every single movie LOL. So according to Buzz Feed, Disney Channel has decided to do us all a favor and air every single one of their original movies. I don't know about you but I'm in total bliss! They've also shared the (potential) line up so far:

Not only did Bey slayyyyyy in this video, she empowered us all and made me proud to be a Black Queen! She told us that she likes her baby's hair just the way it is, she shouted out big beautiful black noses, Red Lobster, and she keeps hot sauce in her purse. She let ya'll know that she is not here for that illuminati mess because she is an incredibly hard-working, talented Black woman who stacks her own paper and that's why she's successful. And last but not least she encourages black women to do the same and most importantly love ourselves. So take notes and slay like Bey!
This is something I've known about for a few years now. If you're not familiar with menstrual cups, they are flexible cups made of rubber or silicone inserted into the vagina to collect menstrual blood rather than absorb like tampons and pads. They are reusable and can be worn for up to 12 hours. Menstrual cups are also more cost effective than tampons and pads because they are reusable, they benefit vaginal pH by allowing helpful bacteria and fluids to remain in the vagina rather than absorbing everything like tampons do, they allow more time than tampons between changing (up to 12 hours), they are just as easy to use as tampons, and you can even have sex with your cup inserted (personal preference). If you're thinking about trying menstrual cups, make sure you do your research on the particular brand you plan to use. If you already use menstrual cups please comment below or email me personally to let me know what you think of them. Also, check out Diva Cups which is a popular brand of menstrual cups to purchase or get more information.
When my best friend mentioned detox balls to me a couple weeks ago, I was shocked and honestly creeped out. I had never heard of them before so I decided to do a little research. For those of you who have no clue what I'm talking about, detox balls are small, herb-filled balls desgined to cleanse the womb and return your nether region to a balance state *rolls eyes* They also claim to fight bacterial vaginosis, foul odor, yeast infection, endometriosis, and fibroids. Some even claim that makes your kitty tighter "by tightening the womb so the vaginal canal will shrink" *rolls eyes again* You insert the ball, leave it in for one day, and then remove it. This sounds weird enough that I personally would never try it, ever! But what I found out next sealed the deal. Of course, these things are said to be unnecessary and potentially dangerous. It could even cause Toxic Shock Syndrome. As I have always been told and believe, if you are healthy your kitty is supposed to clean and balance itself. THE END. I am also not interested in sticking and leaving anything up there for too long. No shade to anyone who uses detox balls because they probably work for you and your womb. But once again they are not something I would try. If you're thinking about trying them, make sure you do your research to find out what works best for you and your body.
In case you haven't heard the gawd Kanye West is releasing his next album Swish on February 11, 2016 *starts break dancing*. In honor of this announcement and because I just love Ye so much, I'm sharing his recent appearance on the season premiere of the final season of American Idol.
It's always beautiful, inspiring, and not to mention DOPE AS F**K to see black women doing great things. Recently, Forbes released their annual 30 under 30 list which showcases "600 of the brightest young entrepreneurs, breakout talents, and change agents in 20 different sectors." This year black women were represented in 10 of the 20 categories. Some of the names on the list include actress/singer Zendaya, singer Kehlani, Azede Jean-Pierre who is a Haitian-born fashion designer who had one of her dresses worn by Michelle Obama, Anjelica Nwandu who is the founder of The Shaderoom, Kimberly Foster founder of For Harriet, and Haben Girma who is Harvard's first deaf-blind lawyer.
