No More Natural Hair ?!?!?!

5/21/2015

As much as I love my natural hair, I'm back on the "creamy crack".  After 3 years, I decided to end my natural hair journey for a very specific reason, my hair is extremely too thick and coarse to manage on a daily basis.  Call me lazy or impatient but I just can't do it.  I also never intended to become "natural".  Don't get me wrong, I absolutely enjoyed the experience, but I never stopped and said "relaxers are bad I'm not gonna relax my hair anymore."  When I was 20, I shaved the sides of my hair and when I was ready to grow it out I decided to wear wigs until it was back to a length I was comfortable with.  So it really made no sense to relax my hair.  Now when my fro was smaller and just starting to grow out, I could manage it.  But as it got longer and healthier, the thickness got out of control.  My mom suggested I get a texturizer to "soften" my kinks.  But in all reality, texturizers are extremely similar to relaxers.  So after about 6 months of going back and forth, I decided I would relax my hair again.  To some this may seem like a drastic decision, but to me it's just hair.  I've gone through plenty of different phases and styles with my hair and this is just another one.  Will I get tired of relaxing it?  Maybe. Will I wish I was natural again?  Maybe. But I don't care.  I might decide tomorrow that I want a short pixie cut.  It's just hair!  As long as my hair is healthy I can do anything I want with it and guess what?  It'll grow back.  Now this is not meant to discourage anyone on their natural hair journey.  My experiences with my hair are specific to me!  I know what my hair can and cannot withstand.  I know how my hair grows and what it takes for it to be healthy.  For some people relaxers just don't work and that's okay.  And for others they can achieve healthy relaxed hair.  You have to decide what's best for you!  Don't ever let anybody try to make you feel bad about choosing to be natural or choosing to relax your hair.  Even though I am no longer natural, I will be giving natural hair care tips and reviews as well as tips and reviews for those with relaxed hair.  If you guys have any questions or comments, email me or leave it in the comment section.  And follow me on Instagram, to see more pics of my current hair and my natural hair.

Sad news!  Recently I noticed that I'm getting stretch marks on the sides of my boobies (I guess they're finally shrinking...praise God!).  So before they get out of hand, I decided to try Bio Oil.  I've heard great things about this product, especially from women who have had stretch marks while being pregnant.  It's also really good for scars and uneven skin tone.  So like I said I will be using it to take care of the stretch marks on my boobs, and also my butt, and  a couple other randoms scars (like burning myself with a black and mild *blank stare*.  It says to use for a minimum of 3 months before noticing results *side eye* but I will be doing a review at the first sign of change.  I bought mine at Walmart for $11.99 I think.  I've also seen it at a couple local beauty supply stores, and also online.  Like I said I will do a review once I start seeing results.  If you're having the same problems as I am, I definitely recommend it based on the great things I've heard about it.

Before this month is over, I want to share my glam bag.  Some of you have no idea what I'm talking about soooooooooo back when I was really starting to experiment with and learn more about makeup (almost two years ago) but didn't really know what brands to try or exactly what products to buy, I subcribed to this website called Ipsy.com.  It was founded by Michelle Phan (Youtube guru) and each month for $10 (plus tax), subscribers receive a glam bag with samples and full-sized beauty products.  Members can also watch and play along with the stylists with same products that they are using.  You take a beauty quiz when you sign up that helps them tailor your glam bag to your likes and looks.  And there's discounts, contests, and giveaways every month on certain products, even ones that might not have made it into your bag, but you still might be interested in.  I do reccomend subscribing for those who are not that familiar with the millions of products and brands that are out there.  I'm not gonna lie, there's months where I completely hate everything that they've sent me (like this month!).  But I like it because it gives me the opportunity to try new shit for only $10.  I can't tell you how many products that I received over time that have turned out to be my favorites.  So try it or don't, but I will be sharing my glam bags every month just in case you guys wanna see first hand how it is.

So this month I received:
  1. Wind Blown 05 Dry Finishing spray by Redken
  2. JulieG Nail Polish
  3. Pink Carnation Blush by Pandora's Makeup box
  4. Nude Dude Eyeshadow by theBalm Cosmetics
  5. Mini Lip & Cheek tint by Mullen &Sparrow
Really?!  I've never heard of any of these brands except for Pandora's and maybe I'm thinking of Pandora jewelry *side eye*. I haven't tried any of these products yet but of course I will.  The only thing I seriously dislike about the whole subscription process is that you get to see all the stuff they didn't put in your glam bag, so sometimes I'm sitting there like 'why tf didn't you put that Too Faced melted lipstick or some mascara or primer or some shit?!?!'

Oh yeah and there's a forum on Ipsy.com where all the ladies discuss what they received in their glam bag and if they live near each other or whatever they swap out the products they didn't like with somebody else wanted it.

Check it out at www.Ipsy.com
